What is the Heartland District?
The Heartland District Office is one of six district offices
that make up the West Michigan Conference of the United Methodist
Church. Our district is unique among the districts in West Michigan. We
are, numerically, the smallest district, yet we are the only district to
have two active Wesley Foundations within our boundaries and two United
Methodist camps. We have a strong history of ministry to and for the
youth of the conference. We are a district with a very active United
Methodist Women’s ministry and we are blessed by gifted lay women and
men in every church across our district. As a result of our population
trends and current economic circumstances, we are also the only district
to have a 4 point charge. We celebrate the fact that we have the highest
number of Licensed Local Pastors serving, both as a percentage of the
total number of clergy and in actual numbers. We are the only district
currently being served by two Certified Lay Ministers as well as the
newest church in the West Michigan Conference…all part of what makes
ministry is this place a blessing!
