Family Systems Peer Groups
Led by Naomi Garcia

Family Systems Peer Groups learn and practice applying family systems theory to one’s own professional and personal life in a safe, confidential environment.  Though not able to participate, D.S. David Hills has been part of peer groups in the past and highly recommends them to the clergy of our District.  A new peer group is forming and will meet on the first Tuesday of each month at Wesley (on CMU's campus in Mount Pleasant), starting September 7, 2010 and running through May 2011.

The typical format of these groups looks something like the following.

·         Opening devotions/spiritual journeying by the host or group participant,

·         1 hour or so of content

·         1-2 case presentations by the participants who volunteer in advance.

The intent of case presentations is to give participants the benefit of being coached around their own functioning in a particular situation.  This coaching includes feedback through observations from the group.

To find out more, contact Naomi García, Ministry Consultant, by e-mail naomi@wmcumc.org, fax 616-459- 0191 or telephone 888-217-1905.

Heartland District’s Fall Clergy Dinner

The Fall Clergy Dinner will be held on Friday, November 12th at 6:00pm.  You and your spouse, or other adult guest, are invited to meet us for dinner at Maxfield’s, just north of Edmore.  Cost will be just $12.50 per person, with the balance being covered out of District Funds.   Born out of a desire to try something new, at least for this year this dinner will replace the annual Christmas/Epiphany parties that have seen declining participation the past few years. More information will be coming in the weeks ahead, but for now I hope you’ll set aside the date to gather with colleagues for dinner and fellowship.
