Heartland District Conference

The Heartland District Conference scheduled for February 18, 2012 from 12:00-5:00 pm at New Life UMC!  The event is free!  Child care will be available.

Online registration has ended!  If you did not register online, you may still attend the event.  However, you will have to register at the door.  Workshop choices may be limited.

Emerging Ministries (continuing)—Support for Volunteer in Mission Teams, food pantries, and new ministries that are initiated by churches within the Heartland District.  Administered by the District Missions Committee and the District Leadership Team.

The Gathering (continuing)—Support for the program ministry of our mission church in Harrison, MI.  Administered by the District Missions Committee and the District Leadership Team.

Wesley Foundations (new)—Support for program ministries at Ferris State University and Central Michigan University.

Leadership Training (new)—Support for annual leadership development programs for clergy and laity of the District.  Administered by the District Superintendent in consultation with the District Leadership Team.

District Administration (continuing)—Support for expenses related to District Conference, Bishop’s Day, and other District programs.  Administered by the District Office.

Bishop’s Day 2012:  “Imagine a Healthy Body of Christ”
March 10

Bishop’s Day 2012 is scheduled for Saturday, March 10 at Big Rapids First UMC.

We will be teaming up with the Grand Traverse District to co-host the event.  The theme for the day is “Global Health.”

Main speaker is Keith Mumma: International Child Care's National Director - United States located in Kalamazoo, MI and also a professional photographer. Keith will be speaking specifically about Haiti and Grace Children’s Hospital. A variety of workshops as well as a Health & Ministry Fair will be available both in the morning and again in the afternoon.

District Office Closings Due to Weather

Winter weather will be here before we know it!  In the event that the Mount Pleasant Public Schools are closed due to weather, the Heartland District Office will also close for the day.  If you have an emergency and need DS assistance on one of these days, call David’s cell phone at 989-330-3730 or email him at dsdave@umcheartland.org.  Otherwise, leave a message on the office voice mail or email, and we will return your call as soon as we return.
